Go-To 120/123g loads in 6.5x47

I bought some 120g Cauterucio's to try in my 6.5x47. I am wondering if you guys have any good loads that work for you.

I have some goods loads for the 140s, but haven't shot the 120s yet.

Thanks!

I haven't shot those bullets yet, but my load for 120 and 123 serria MK. is 4350 41.3 gr, just touch lands and up to .010 jam. Seems they like as much powder as you can get in the case. Pat

I used 37.5gr varget with 130 bergers and CCI450's in a 6.5x47L last year. From everything I have seen data wise, unless you run RL17 with the 140's to get extra velocity your drift out to 1000yds really isnt all that different from the 130s. Waterline was awesome with varget but work up to this load as it was getting warm in that rifle.

same as above - we have half a dozen rifles here that love 37-38 grains varget and show very good velocity spread with 123 -130 class. Work up with care.

I shot a few rounds out of my new benchmark barrel this morning. Had them loaded from 38.5-40gr's of varget just touching the lands
123 smk's cci 450
38.5gr- 2977-2970-2970
40gr- 3088-3084-3071. No pressure. Resized and pockets are tight.
Will do more testing later, it was 18 degrees and 20mph winds- cold

Kyle

28" 8" twist barrel, my 6.5x47L likes:

120 smk's, CCI 450 primers, 39.3grns Varget Powder, bullet touching the lands

123 Scenars, same as above, .005 in the lands

Both are very accurate in my rifle. 123's do better shooting past 600 yards.

After extensive shooting, I never did get the heavier bullets to shoot to my satisfaction, 139,140's etc.
