glare with Teslong borescope

clean barrels show a lot of glare, or hot spots if you will. Old or uncleaned, not so much. Turning down the brightness helps a little. anyone have any tips for reducing?

Centering the wand/probe in the bores helps, as well as does having the focus optimal to the bore size.
For many years now, myself have been using O-rings to aid in centering (one near the head and a 2nd back a ways).

Recently, I slit a straw length ways, wrapped and taped a 4" portion of the straw to about .290" diameter near the head, to aid in centering the probe for a couple 30-caliber barrel inspections. It worked so slick, I plan to dedicate a Teslong with a straw on the cable and with a large mirror for 30-caliber and larger barrels (and since the Teslong's are so inexpensive, why not have multiple units setup and dedicated to multiple bore-sizes).

Totally agree with the glare issue. This is my biggest complaint of the borescope. If it wasn't for the glare it would be an outstanding borescope. I have both the rigid and original flexible model and they both have glare. Turning the brightness only helps a little. I have communicated this issue to Teslong and they are both aware of the issue and according to them, working on a solution. Their reply seemed to suggest that they were trying to find a solution that could be applicable to those of use who currently own one as a kind of retrofit. I hope that comes to pass. A central neutral density filter like those used in photography would be great but that could be a challenge to implement. Anyway, I still love this device and use it almost everyday and think it is the best value for the money out there. It's not an optical borescope but then it isn't 800 plus dollars either. It tells me what I need to know for barrel cleaning.

I have found the use of more appropriately sized mirrors as found in the accessory kit seem to cut the glare considerably when used with light control and adjusting the focus by screwing the mirror in or out for best view. Granted, I never found it to be that objectionable in the first place, but the different sizes do seem to assist in clarity.

the brightness of the LEDs is the issue. I painted over 5 of the 6 and there's still plenty of light even at the lowest brightness. It did cut down on the glare but did not eliminate. BTW, I used acrylic hobby paint and a very fine brush....easy to scrape off with a toothpick.

Good idea! May give that a try myself.
