I’ve been taking some time the last couple of days reflecting as I draw near to the end of this 2020 shooting season
about how thankful I am. In today’s world with all the buffoonery, doom and gloom, and other happenings it can be easy to lose our perspective of just being thankful for some of the simple things that we enjoy and take for granted. First off I am thankful that the 2020 shooting season even happened at all. Didn’t look good for a while and some of my favorite shoots were canceled for the year.I am very thankful to the men and women that run these various shooting matches that I enjoy. I am very thankful for the friends that go to the shoots with me and the new friends that I have met over the years. I am thankful for the three benchrest rifles that I have and the components to keep them shooting. I am thankful for this website. I am thankful for my health that allows me to be able to enjoy shooting. I’m thankful that I have enough extra money after the bills are paid that allow me to be able to enjoy this sport. I am thankful that all my local ranges have remained open through these times. I am thankful for all the guys & gals that have helped me in this precision shooting sport in the many different ways they have. I am thankful for the many laughs that I have had at shooting matches. I’m thankful that I have actually won a few different things in this long range shooting sport. I am thankful that I actually get to shoot at Williamsport when I decide to make the drive there. This is something that as a young man reading about it in the outdoor life magazines and such years ago never dreamt that I would be able to be a part of. There are other things I’m sure that I could list here but I don’t want to make this post too long. Just take some time when you get a chance to think about how many good things there are just in this sport that we enjoy that we can be thankful for. And all the other things in life that you can be thankful for family, friends etc. And most of all I thank God for opening my heart and my eyes to see how fortunate, blessed and thankful I really am!
