Giraud tri-way trimmer

Just picked up a couple of these. One in 308 and one in 223. Wow! Talk about hitting the easy button. Chuck it up in the cordless drill and blow through a bucket of brass in no time.

I've been using the RCBS 3-way trimmer on a TrimPro with an electric drill for a few years and it does very well.

The Giraud is definitely an improvement. Solid build. Engineered well.

Doesnt case length vary according to shoulder bump? This would mean that case length will vary by the shoulder variance. Ive never used a giraud.

I have not tested that. My shoulder bump is consistent which should yield a consistent case length. I just got these yesterday so I will be learning their capabilities/limitations.

my experience so far has been using 2 different 308win cases Alpha and LAPUA brass in 2 different rifles my trim lengths have been consistent @2.005 for both of my bolt rifles cases, that said, my current lot of ALPHA brass is new, my LAPUA brass has been fired a few times, I also trim my Starline 308win cases for my gas guns, and these cases are also new brass, I have also used this trimmer to trim random range brass after resizing like PPU, Federal, Hornady {ETC} without any issues, all come out the same, I did have to adjust the trimmer to get the trim length I wanted but I only had to adjust it 1 time, this is the TRI Way trimmer head chucked up in a drill press, JMO

Since I only reload for two different calibers, I've been using Tri-Way for several years and have been very happy with the speed and consistency I get. Like some people, my very old hands can have an issue when doing large batches. However, light non-slip gloves has pretty much taken care of that.

Yes, because the Tri-way indexes off the shoulders, if you've got a lot of variance in the shoulder bump, it's going to show up on the trim length.

When indexing of the base, as most other trimmers do (even the Wilson hand turned trimmer), variations in should bump results in corresponding difference is the length of the case's necks, even though the case lengths are identical. ;)
