What is everyone's recommendation on the Giraud Power Trimmer. I like the concept, does it trim the brass as consistant as stated on their website?

It's awesome. And yes, very consistent.

Buy one, NOW. you will be glad you did and you will be mad at yourself for not getting one sooner. Awesome piece of equipment.

The best investment a high volume bolt gun shooter can make is a Giraud Trimmer, I have a separate shell holder and cutter assy for each cal I shoot, I use Forster lock rings to set n forget the length adjustment.

Brian, not being familiar with the machine, could you further detail your procedure with the lock rings?

Send pic's maybe, ddjjhh@cox.net

Thanks, Dennis

Dennis, the trimmer has a blade on the inside pointing up. On top, it has threads like a press would have, 7/8-14. There you thread in your shell holder. The deeper you thread it in, the more you will trim. Since they are threaded like a die, you can use the same lockrings on the shell holders once you find the depth you like. Then, lock the ring like you would on a die that way you can remove the shell holder, and next time you need to trim for that cartridge, just screw the shell holder down until it bottoms out on the lock ring, just like a die. So, it's just like setting up a die, did you get that? ;D

Erik, got the message, I understand now!

I just need to find a good price on a trimmer and an annealer! I wish they would make a package deal!

Dennis

I wouldnt waste time looking "for a good price". Rarely do they come up for sale used and when they do they are grabbed quickly as there is a wait for both right now and has been that way for a while. Just suck it up and order from Doug and wait patiently, if you can, for them to arrive. They are worth the wait, and the price.

I have trimmed thousands upon thousands of cases on my trimmer and other than some shavings in the cutter area, you couldnt even tell it was used. For what we do, getting good equipment and tools is worth the cost. Buy once and be done with it.

Buy it, the best there is, I did 50 cases in under 10 minutes, including measuring the case after trimming today, I hate trimming, this device makes it enjoyable, It cost me probably $200 more than the gentlemen on this thread as I shipped it to the UK and had to pay duties and taxes, still worth it though.

Dennis, I consider the Giraud an absolute "must have" for any active rilfe reloader. If you need to learn a bit more about it, click here: http://riflemansjournal.blogspot.com/2010/08/good-stuff-giraud-case-trimmer.html
