Giraud power trimmer help

My question is the Giraud trimmer designed to be used with an expander ball in the die? Or are there those of you who use a straight bushing die?

It doesn't matter, as long as the brass has been sized sufficiently to fit in the case holder. Pretty much any sized brass will fit.

It primarily indexes off the shoulder, that's why you can trim 6 Creedmoor brass in a 6.5 Creedmoor shell holder, the shoulder angle & body are the same.

Agree with @rijndael , to the trimmer it doesn't matter how you get the brass sized, but the size matters.

With the Giraud, you either match the diameter of the neck to the last adjustment, or you spend the time adjusting the cutter again.

This means the cutter does and inside and outside chamfer at the same time, so the inside and outside diameter needs to be the same as the last adjustment, or it needs to get adjusted again.

So it doesn't matter what method you use, but it is best to get the sizing set to where the necks are always the same diameter and there no defects with the blends at the neck-shoulder or shoulder-body junctions. But, that is always true regardless of purpose.
