Ginex Test

There are two types of primers I shoot in F-open competition. I normally used CCI BR 2s. When large primers became scarce I was able to get Ginex large rifle primers to keep me going. They were and still are a lot cheaper than the BR-2s. As far as performance, as long as I weight sort my primers I find little or no difference in the performance. The only difference I see is the Ginex primers fit a little tighter in the primer pocket.

They are much less expensive and for the most part very consistent. But, oh man, are they hard to seat!

I have been using the Ginex SRP on my Practice Cases that have gotten slightly over-sized on the primer pockets after thirty-five to forty reloads . I have seen virtually no difference on target between them and the Rem 7 1/2 BR primer I use normally . The Ginex do run the velocity at around fifteen to twenty FPS faster on average than the Rem , but I can't tell any difference on target .
Ginex : ...197 - 9X
Rem.......198 - 10X
Brass prep was identical for case batch
Load was the same for both strings .

They are TIGHT on a good primer pocket . As I stated , I don't use them until the pocket will no longer "secure" a standard SRP . And they will only give you from 4 - 6 extra reloads . But that's 4 - 6 more reloads than if you had thrown them out , and still no difference on target . I run 600 practice cases , and in seven years , I have "created a box of 134 "Ginex" cases ! That's Lapua SRP cases with Ginex primers . I keep them separated , and shoot them in batches of fifty . Five sighters , and twenty for Record . Gives me two practice strings at a time . Vertical scope adjustment is only one or two clicks down on a GE ! Hope this helps .
