Ghog shooting gallery

I was hunting a farm Saturday and noticed a large ghog next to a barn. It went into the barn as the temp was 82°. I waited, nothing . I returned 8:00 AM next morning when temp was 75°. I set up in the shade and waited. She appears , crawing out a hole in side of the barn...I was ready. My 222 modified with a 52 gr HP custom bullet drops them instantly with a neck shot...she dropped. In no time I see a head poking thru same hole...BANG...SPLATT. In just a few, another head/neck, so another neck shot and a body falls out of barn. Five min and ANOTHER head/neck, so send him one...BANG..SPLATT! It was over in less than 30 min. I went to the killing field and the pic shows what I found. An adult and 3 weened pups...all males. The temp was below 80° and "harvested" another 9# 2oz female at another site on same farm. Not a bad start to my Father's Day.2017-06-18 11.53.24.jpg

Had a new experience to rival the gallery shooting. Our temp finally dropped below 75° today...95° for 2.5 weeks. Went to a field with a small commune of ghogs. The wind was really bad 20+ mph but constant and steady. I set up so that it was a perfect 6:00 wind. A small one stood in grass at 223 yds, mid chest up visible. I dropped him. Shortly, a big one appears and wanders about a bit, then stops slightly broadside...I sent one and heard a good splat. When I checked the kill site I find mama ghog pilled up on top of junior...she came out of another hole and was perched directly over him when hit. Never had this happen before. From spraying ghogs to stacking them...

I'm at it again. I visited a farm that i'v not been on in 4 years. The farmer had passed but his son was there and was happy to see me. His hay fields had holes large enough to be dangerous for tractors. He had a "hugh mother in that barn" and wished him to be gone. I drove the field but hay too tall, so I approached the barn of the "biggun" and there he was! Damn, he saw me first and I watched his body shaking as he ran into the barn...belly dragging the ground! I waited for 45 min...nothing. The farmer's son took me to another field where I shot a 9# as soon as we stopped. He left me and I sat up in the shade and proceeded to whack 4 more! One at 341 yards! I returned to the barn of the big kahuna and there was a head bobbing in the grass...272 yards away...he did not see me...bad. I got ready and watched as he grazed for 30 min. Finally he got clear of the grass and I had a clear broadside view. I released the 1.5 oz Jewel and a 65 gr Conaway was on it's way. I saw the solid chest hit and the pig just stopped, dropped, raised his head, then down...a tail salute and I finally started to breath. I went to son's house and asked if he wanted to see the trophy...he was ecstatic and invited me to return and clear his hay field. I'll be back.
