Getting started with 6 Comp Match

I have a reamer being ground around Lapua brass by Dave Kiff. I plan on neck turning cleanup (approx 75%) to improve neck thickness consistency before fire forming. My neck chamber is .274 which should provide about .003 clearance.

Does anyone know if fireforming with a false shoulder method increases the likelihood or severity of donut formation over just using tight neck tension and a hard jam?

Another question I have is does anyone that uses Lapua brass also use Chad's 6 Comp Match LRI sizer die? If so how does the die match up with Lapua brass?

Thanks for responses!

Phil

I used the false shoulder to form my Lapua brass. Worked out good. I ended up neck turning after I fire formed and went just below the neck to help with the possibility of donuts.

The LRI die works great. You won’t have any issues with it.

Thanks for your reply. I'm curious if you noticed after fireforming if the false shoulder area of the neck ends up with the same neck O.D. and wall thickness as the area above the false shoulder area?

Didn’t check. Just went straight to neck turning as I had a bunch of it to get thru. Figured it would all get trued up at this point.
