I decided about 6 months ago to build my first ever custom rifle. At first, I was shocked that it could take as long as it does to get some of the components. After all....a barrel blank takes 3 months? I assumed that if building barrels was all a company specialized in, it should be a "give them your money and recieve the product" deal. After reading a ton on these forums, I quickly realized that my wait times were actually on the quick side and I should not be upset. Again, after reading and finding out here, the Bat action was the fastest turn around item in the whole project Only due to Bruno's having it in stock...hats off to them.
I found out about D&B Supply from this site and contacted Bill Shehane. Ended up going with him and buying a lot of the other parts from him as well. Since he is only about 50 miles from me, it just made sense to me to choose him. His reputation didnt hurt at all either. I bought stock, jewell trigger, Nightforce 12-42BR, one of the 2 barrels, scope rings etc all from him.
The gun will be:
Barrel switch with 6BR no turn in 13.5 twist for shorter range and 308 11 twist for longer range
Shehane Tracker stock fiberglass in the white to light blue to dark blue
Bat Model M
Nightforce 12-42 BR scope
Nightforce rings
Jewell Trigger at 2oz
Last time I spoke to Bill i was told that the metal work was all completed and the only remaining wait was for the stock to be polished and clear coated which should take about a month.
This should put the finished product in my hands sometime next month or early Feb. I am completely happy with how long this has all taken after reading on here about other people's wait times. Will try to post Pics once I have the gun but all I can say is that Bill has been a pleasure to deal with. I havent called him a lot but the few times I have called him, He has always had time to talk with me and answer any questions I have had. I am going to be 1 very happy camper when I meet him to get the finished rifle and square up on the final balance.
