Getting a Remington 700 bolt firing pin hole bushed?

It is not exactly terrible but with softer primers and upper mid level loads I get what looks like cratering well before I should. Plus the bolt face is rough around the firing pin hole. Who does this work and how much is it to get done?

Jerry (Carlsbad) would be my first choice. Gre-Tan does a good job but they're not accepting any new work.

@carlsbad bushed the bolt on my Ruger Precision Rifle because I was getting craters and pierced primers on min loads with small rifle primers.

After he bushed the bolt, craters are gone and I've been getting way better groups than I was getting before...even with the same exact load I was using before.

I'm pretty happy with the results

Yep, read through and see headspace will likely change. Not an issue for remage, not an issue if barreling. If only 0.0005-0.0010 won't matter for factory ammo. I prefer not to take a chance on a custom barrel/chamber job.

Paul (boltfluter) is a good dude. He has been very helpful when I had action questions. Will be sending some work your way this winter.

Carlsbad does excellent work! He has forwarded several bolts to me, to do my thing, after he has bushed the bolts. His work is excellent, and as good as anyone I have dealt with in the trade. And better than most. You are in good hands with Carlsbad!

Paul
