Getting a new barrel for a Stolle Kodiak

I've developed an urge for a 6.5-284 for some long range shooting. Small chance of looking at F-class, but, there have been other competitive things I've had an interest in that faded in a fit of hobby ADD. My biggest interest is something nice for Boomershoot.

One idea that is appealing is a Savage 6.5-284 currently in stock in a local area shop. That's not the topic of this post, though.

I have several benchrest competition rifles I inherited from my father. The one I have my eye on is a Stolle Kodiak action with a 308 bolt face. My father shot hunter class benchrest with it. Anyway.

I have seen things out there indicating one can get a barrel chambered for a Stolle action without needing to send the action to the smith and other indications that's not such a good idea. I would really prefer to not have to ship the rifle as the extra PITA factor, sorry to say, begins to diminish my fervor.

So, the big question is: can one reliably have a barrel chambered for a Stolle Kodiak without shipping out the action?

Thoughts?

Thanks.

I just send barrels for my Panda actions to my smith to be chambered, they're all timed threads.
I'm not sure about Kodiak action, easy to find the correct answer give Kelbly a call.
