German SIG plant closing...

It appears SIG has finally had enough of the increasingly anti-firearm government in Germany. They announced June 4th, that the plant in Eckenroede (sp?) is closing. It was opened in 1751.

FORUM Boss:
Here is a Bulletin article that has much information on the subject:

SIG Sauer spokemen say this will NOT affect USA operations. However this means certain types of arms will have to be produced elsewhere.

What a shame.

MADE IN GERMANY used to really mean something. MADE IN USA sure does.

Oh well, they did it to themselves.

HK still MADE IN GERMANY?

When stationed in Germany back in the 90's I stopped by to see if I could take a tour also. No tour, they did send me a brochure and hat pin in the mail.

They'll all wake up and find themselves learning chinese before too long and it'll be too late to turn back. I'm not so sure it'd be in our interest to bail them out.

If we wait to long it will be to late, that is what I have learned. Hope enough people have the courage to do something.

The total lack of support I received from SIG after buying a new 1000.00 handgun that was not shootable , they can close all their factories as far as I am concerned. So after spending 200.00 to correct it, it's fine, but I will never buy another SIG product. Yes, that was 2 years ago, I am still pissed. I talked face to face to SIG rep at a show who said they were working to improve their customer service. No offer from him concerning the problem I encountered. I was refered by someone on this forum on where to go to resolve my problem. I made the phone call across the country and first words spoken by the individual who answered were, Where are you calling from I don't recognize the area code. I told him, and then he asked if I was a new Sig owner, amazing. For those who buy now, I hope they have improved there customer service, I use the term loosely.
