Yeah that's what it seems like. It's interesting that doesn't seem to be publicised anywhere. It's my understanding Vortex bought Geoballistics, so yeah more than a casual fling
Yeah that doesn't work if your phone doesn't have an internal compass. You simply point your phone in the direction of the wind and poke the compass looking thing beside it and it records your direction. You can do that on the weather page and/or your table page or comp page etc.

Vortex owns GeoBallisticsSent an email to geoballostics about this. After a week without reply I sent a follow up email and received a reply from VORTEX tech support. So there must be more than a casual fling between them.
Anyway, the instruction is to hold the phone flat, point it into the wind and press the compass button. (Same for shot direction) Which is exactly what I have been doing without success. Suspecting an issue with compass direction I downloaded an independent compass app and wasn't able to get a direction on that either. Discovered that my phone does not have an internal compass.
So while I applaud geoballostics for trying to be different. How about having an optional wind direction compass as per every other ballistic app?
Another thing worth noting is there is no option to have wind or elevation corrections inches. MOA or Mil only. Same deal with the integration to the Vortex razor 4000 GB rangefinder , no options for inches in the display. Personally I feel this would be a good and simple option to add for certain applications but geobalistics / vortex currently believe that MOA and Mil is the only way.
Sorry I haven't been gargling up vortex info like others.Pretty well known that vortex bought geo when they announced them as their solver for their products.
If you go to the weather button you can manually input your wind direction and target direction if you like.
No one uses inches for hold off. You should be dialing mil or moa and your preference on windage hold vs dial. Use your reticle like a ruler, that’s what it’s for. I highly suggest you attend a class. It will be money well spent.
Consider a new phone with a compass and environmental sensors.
