Gen 1 G7 vs Gen2 G7

I was wondering what the major differences between the gen1 and gen2 G7 rangefinders are. I have read the ad on G7's website but was wanting to know if the improvements are noticeable in the field under real world hunting situations. Any help is appreciated as my wife and I are looking at buying one.

Have a great weekend.

If you don't need MRAD I'd be saving a bunch of money and buying a used gen 1. I've had both and saw no advantage to the new one. In fact I was side by side ranging with my gen 2 against a gen one and the gen 1 was outperforming mine. I was pretty disappointed.

Dennis,
Is the MRAD another sight adjustment? I am not familiar with it. Was the tighter beam harder to get a range on distant non-reflective targets? Is the cartridge profile stuff the same? More data storage? More information inputs? Thanks for the info.

The new unit will do MOA or MRAD. So if your scope has MOA turrets you don't need MRAD. Programming it was the same and I believe they both are capable of 4 separate profiles. What disappointed me about it was that while comparing side by side with a gen 1 we were ranging a target set back in some trees. This is where my gen 2 should of shined and it didn't. Also it is supposed to range further and from what I could tell it didn't.
