Gear Transport - What to Use

Now that I have acquired a bulky hefty front rest, a heavy rear bag, two 12+ lb. rifles and cases, ammo, notebook, targets, cleaning supplies, water, etc..., I feel like the Clampetts of the Beverly Hillbillies, heading to the range. What are people using to transport all this stuff. I searched for opinions, and it doesn't seem like anyone is truly satisfied with some of the commercial products made for this use? I keep postponing this purchase, but I really have to get something now. Including another well used car or truck for range trips, as there is no way this stuff is all going to fit into my 2 seat sports car.

Sounds like you need a new Silverado- !!!! shame your so far away---Neil in ST. Louis--Chevrolet dealership sales

I've been very happy with my GMC Canyon.

If you don't have a pickup truck you will be really happy if you buy one. They are very handy.

Now that you have a truck, I'll address hauling it all to the line. Sinclair has a folding cart and a milk crate cart. I have seen both work well. I bought the folding cart. One friend made a portable gun rack from a welding dolly. It holds 2-3 guns upright.

From an email I sent to a friend:

Here is the wagon that I have:

Here is the Stanley rolling tool chest that I used, and liked a lot, when I
had a full-size truck.

Here is the beach cart that I talked about. If you shoot where you have to
roll over big gravel, it's a good choice. http://www.tipkemfg.com/foldit/ .
It is what most benchrest shooters use.

A lot of the service rifle shooters use this cart:

Go to: Hand trucks.com scroll to bottom for 8 in 1 hand truck. I bought one after using a 2 wheel hand truck. Big improvement, folds easy to store in your vehicle. 44" model holds 2 rifle cases (26" bbls) ammo bxs, cleaning rods, crono, rests etc. ..... You'll still look like the Beverly hill billies.

I shop thrift stores and recently got the idea of picking up a piece of used luggage (the kind with wheels and a collapsible handle) to use as a range cart.
(example below)
I see them frequently at prices less than $20.
I still carry my rifle in its drag bag or case, depending on which rifle I'm using, but all the other heavy stuff goes into the suitcase on wheels.
It works very well.

my biggest pia/workout is hauling all of it up from my gun room(in basement) don't know how one of the toolboxes would hold up going up and down steps filled with bags rest and ammo, might save a trip. worth a shot...

I bought one like this from our local Farm and Fleet store, but a bigger version yet, a full 4 foot by 2 foot with 12" tires, for humping my Heavy Gun/Maxi-Tracker set-up.

Too bad you weren't closer, it's just taking up space in the garage now.....

Bought a cart like this from Northern Tool Supply. A large plastic tote for misc. things goes in the cart, gun cases on top of that, and then bungee cords to hold everything together.

I've got one of those fixed wagons. They're nice in many ways. They don't fold up, however and are pretty inconvenient.

If you can get it in your vehicle, the Stanley rolling tool chest that I posted about above is a great solution.

I would have never given mine up, but it wouldn't fit in the 18" high bed with hard tonneau cover of my new truck.

Tipke fold it cart. You will see more of these than any thing else at F-class and sling matches http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=foldit+cart&tag=mh0b-20&index=aps&hvadid=1696085082&ref=pd_sl_1cgfjaapmt_e

Phil, What's your ride? Porsche Boxster? If so, you have 2 trunks, ( mid engine ) gunz muzzle down front seat will do er.

Bucket loader or medium Bobcat would work.

Bobcat- you steer with the tracks. Primal. So many questions.

Here is my latest attempt... ;) Basic Game Carrier with a few mods and a Rubbermaid Action Packer. Rolls really nice and easy..

This has been working for me.

The pelican case has a rest and top, a spare top with different width bag, range finder, wind meter, safety glasses, and the blue box has allen & torx wrenches bolt grease, and ear plugs. The black bag has ammo and cleaning supplies. Plus whatever else I can stuff in there.

Close. Porsche Cayman S. Yes, there are two trunks, and can get the AR-15 crosswise in the rear trunk, invisible to outside eyes. But my longer cases would have to go inside on the passenger seat as you described. While this is not illegal, I don't like having a gun case in relatively plain sight driving around the San Francisco bay area. I suppose I could disguise it with a blanket or something.
