GBA 2020 Long Range Match Schedule

What was the reason for being against factory / hunter classes? Did they think it took up too much time? Or was it hard to police the rules for the 2 classes?

GBA members are represented through their local Club Directors. It’s a representative democracy. You need to be talking to them. They can be found on the GBA web site under clubs.

We started the GBA to be run by the shooters because of what happened with the IBS. So it is my understanding that all rules or rule changes would be voted upon by the membership. So I will see you all at the winter meeting so we can get all the things resolved from the past season.

Gee...didn't know the IBS was something bad. Without that form of benchrest shooting so many of us, especially those no longer youthful and aggressive, would no longer be able to shoot competitively. The quality of top IBS shooters is paramount stimulation just to be around the events, even if it is personally unrealistic to be competitive.

Hope the GBA works out for many. Just don't condemn the super shooters setting high standards for long range shooting done in IBS events.

The GBA is just now beginning it’s second season. They are all former IBS shooters and they use the same basic guidelines and rules as the IBS. To my understanding, there were some administrative things that some GBA shooters couldn’t comply with and chose to start the GBA just as a secondary option to shoot. I believe the IBS will continue to be great, while the GBA gains some foothold as another competitive shooting platform.

If everyone would try and get along I could see a Top ten from each org. shoot off at the end of the year.

I think that is why they have IBS and GBA National championships, They just need to show up.

I agree with you 100% but wouldn't it be a nice thing to have a Champion of champions both organizations involved think out of box a little bit.
I really think that would be a heck of a challenge an neither organization has anything to say about it except support what the shooters want to do in reference to it.

I'm not sure that's the goal here or a very good statement, there are super shooters in all long range venues and I think the respect should be given to all, that's one thing I dont see the IBS doing. Actually not many organizations do. As far as I know the only true "world records" can be recognized by the Williamport 1000 Yard Club. My thinking is this, anybody at anytime during a scheduled match can break a record, member or not and it's recognized as a World Record. Anything else is a "club" record" which deserves the respect of the accomplishment no matter what. I've been a paying member at different clubs at one time or another and all are great organizations. Well almost all, lol! I don't think the GBA has or intends to put themselves on a pedestal, a few of my friends went to the national match this past year and had an exceptionally great time, met new shooters and made lasting friends. From what I hear GBA is a top notch show and sounds like catering to the masses is the goal. Not to say others aren't doing them same but it really shines with GBA. I hope to make it to their national event this year!!
