gave up on 105 Amax in 9.25' twist

shooting a savage M12 w/ 9.25' twist. Using retumbo at varying charges,46 - 47.5) with WLRMag primers. Once fired winchester brass, neck sized. Bullets loaded from .010 out of lands to .010 into lands. Nothing but heartache! Groups never below 2+ MOA. I think the remaining 30+ pieces are going in the trash.
Anyone have some good load data for 87 gr Vmax in this rifle? I'd like to use powder I have on hand,H380, Varget, lots of Varget), Retumbo, IMR 4350 & H4831).
I've had excellent results with 75 gr Vmax shooting 1/4 MOA, but I want to go with a heavier bullet.

Are you shooting a .243? Try your 75 gr load as a control. If it shoots bad you are probably copper fouled. My 9-1/4' twist Rem .243 shot the 107 SMKs but was prone to foul and the 105s but liked the 107s more. Try the 90gr Berger BT, 87 VMaX and the 80 gr Nos BT. H4350 and RL 22 gave me the best results.

sorry I left that out - yes, it is a .243. I cleaned for copper prior to working up the 105 gr loads. a younger brother suggested the 87 gr vmax, too. Awful hard to find those in stock anywhere!
If someone wants 35 pieces of 6mm 105 gr Amax, make me an offer and you can have them. They have all been pulled from the brass - had a variance of powder charges and seating depths b4 finally giving up.
took the savage M12 .223 to the range to make sure my problems were strictly with the load, not the shooter. Here's a picture of the results. Three rounds @ 95 yards - 55 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip pushed by 24.5 grains of varget, loaded .010 into the lands. Chrony read an average of 2875 fps.

Now I just need to get some .243 loads to shoot like that.

Used 105 AMax in a Savage .243 12FV last Summer in F Class. Very accurate out to 1000 yds. Savage says 9.25 twist. Took a first at the 2008 Ontario Fullbore Champs with that bullet. Used a compressed load of RX25 to give 3050 fps.

I had very good results in a .243 Savage at 600 yards. 105 amax, remington brass, retumbo 49 grains which I believe is max so work up. It will shoot, at least it did for me.Oh, and Winchester Large Rifle Primers.

I had very nice results with the 105 a-max in my Remmy VLS. I am using H4350, I think about 37.5 grns, maybe). Prints very nice on paper out at 600 yds, don't have any longer place to shoot. Performed very well on my June trip to P-Dog Land, even had my first 1000yd+ kill.:thumb:

well, maybe I'll give the 105s ONE MORE CHANCE. Are you savage fellas loading your rounds into the lands? How deep? Are your rifles 9.25' twist? Mine is the stainless fluted barrel, 26' long with around 500 - 600 rounds through it,nothing loaded hot - all loads have been middle-of-the-line charges). The only rounds I've loaded into the lands have been these 105 gr Amax.
Thanks gang.
