Gathering reloading tools for 6Br dies ?

I have most of what I need to load the 6mmBr. My question is how many of you use CUSTOM dies ? ? I have a Redding neck bushing die set already. I was thinking of either my gunsmiths custom die or a Wilson for seating. Maybe even the full length bushing size die from my smith as well, cut with my reamer. What are your thoughts on this ?? I have used custom dies in the past for when I was shooting PPC and they work great. Is it worth all the extra money for custom dies in 6mmBr ?? This is a comp gun being built on a BAT action.
Thanx again...

Would the die be cut dimensions from the reamer that cut your chamber?

I have seen very good results from Harrell's dies (matched to your fired brass, $70) and Wilson seaters. You cannot make a FL die by reaming a die blank with a chambering reamer, only a bump die, something that I would not recommend, if you plan on loading for top velocities. If you measure your fired cases and those sized with your Redding FL die, at the shoulder (diameter) and about .3 up from the base of the case, how much is your die reducing the diameter of a fired case at these points? Depending on what your current die is doing, you may not see any improvement with a different die.

Thank you for the advise. I will have to wait until my rifle is done to do that. Was just trying to get ahead of the money acquiring the right tooling before rifle is done... I will just wait now.
Thanx again !!

Your are welcome. Come back and let us know how it shoots. What twist barrel will it have, and what bullets are you most interested in shooting?

rmist,

I see you live in the Lebanon area. I'm on the Chester/Lancaster County line. Who is doing your smithing work?

Jerry
