Gas $$

I know it's a bit early, but is anyone having second thoughts about PD (or whatever) trips this summer due to the wonderful gas prices and where they are projected to go?

Yes, but missed it last year due to medical and will get there this year, thinking of Wyoming instead of SD, no license fee in Wy and no daily tresspass fee as in SD. We do not use a guide service. This fuel situation will affect everyone for Summer travel. SD has gotten pricey for PD shooting. The rancher spends $$ to poison and we pay the rancher $$ to kill them, think about it, rather interesting convoluted predicament for both rancher and shooter.

My home gets 7.5 MPG. It is currently in Fredericksburg, TX. But will move to OK, then NC before the end of March. Then will move to Ohio around the end of April.
I'm definitely NOT looking forward to the fuel bill.

I think that fuel de regulation has had a lot negative effects on our fuel prices.
When the trucking companies couldn't pass on higher costs without going through the government beaurocracy...the trucking companie would start to park their trucks and when that happened, prices went down.

Last year I pulled my toy hauler to Wyoming from Tampa and back. Fuel bill was right at $1,800. Sold that 30ft. toy hauler and bought one only 16ft. long. Don't see much difference in fuel mileage.

Cummins engine drinks close to the same but now the drink looks to be even more expensive. Will not decide until sometime late May.

I am fortunate enought to live in the middle of P-dog/coyote country & my drives are 25-60 miles oneway, but still hurts like heck to fill the tanks.

Things have changed in America the last 3 years, gasoline was half this price in 2008, but not just gas we have been hit hard with hyper inflation and I just can't understand why the media hasn't made inflation a huge story. The price of gas will affect my varmint hunting this summer, it's just a shame.

I can't believe how much this country has changed in 20 years. Boys, I am afaraid we "aint' seen nothing yet".
Your right about that,....as a matter of a fact it is a understatement,..Dave T mentioned hyper inflation,..that's also a understatement!! you can't crank up the printing presses for the last three years, running 24/7 printing monopoly money based off absolutely nothing and not have super hyper inflation hit! You ever seen pictures of the 1930's here in the USA or worse in Europe?...how about the John Steinbeck's 1939 movie starring Henry Fonda "The grapes of wrath"??
That's baby crap compared to what your gonna see!....The real CHANGE hasn't got here yet,.... :o

I was just having this conversation with my wife. We use about 125 gallons of fuel in the motorhome to get to our dog town. If gas goes up $3.00 per gallon more than last year that will mean it will cost me $135 more than last year. (Fuel cost split 3 ways) That's not a deal breaker for me when you considerer what I spend on ammo. Thats 10 lunches at Mc Donalds, Five trips to the local steak house (a cheap joint), or one trip to the Mall for my wife.

It sucks, but it is what it is.

I'm going.

Planning on going late May--about a 12 hour trip to our dog area--not happy about the price of fuel, will be even higher out west than it is here in Missouri-- Whats a guy to do? Pluss the cost of loading ammo is UP-UP-UP. Think 3 of us with rifles and ammo and tables will fit in a Cruze??

My home gets 7.5 MPG, but it will still go from TX to OK, then to NC for a month, then to PA & OH before May. Then to AZ before winter. Like some have said, "It is what it is".
BTW, my "wheel estate" gets 7.5 MPG when I set the cruise on 60 MPH, 5.5 MPG when the cruise is set to 75 MPH. Guess what speed I drive? For those that fly by me, I'm not driving slow due to my driving abilities. ;)
We only drive 4 to 5 hours per day when we travel. Hey, we're retired. :D

The only reason that saudi oil has gone way up is do to under production, the saudi's were forced to admit that they cut production by 235,00 barrels per day.Why are we not buying canadien oil which right now is 33.00 per barrel. The canadien govt wants the usa to allow a huge pipeline to be built so they can export to china. Why are kwik fill stations charging such high price's when they brag about being pennsylvania crude. This is going to cause me much hardship,I am disgusted by a corprorate govt who could care less about their constituents.I want to go to the super shoot and a couple others and now I can forget it.
