Gary Stewart????

I have a .22lr made identical to a 40-x but instead of saying Remington, it says Gary Stewart. Anyone ever heard of him or shoot competition with him??? Just looking for info on the rifle. Thanks

There used to be a Stewart and I think his name might have been Gary. Gunsmith at a small shop in Arkport, NY (near Hornell) Shot BP with him 30 years ago. Brother named Bob, he was a grouse dog trainer from the Hornell area. Bob has passed. I'll check with one of my BP friends.

I probably have never heard of the Gary Stewart that owned the rifle but, the singer Gary Stewart is another story.
He was a flat natural born good timing man!

Yes but it’s not Remington and the barrel is a custom barrel

I have never heard came across that before. But i know Gary stewart the musician. I’ve always been a fan of his music. He did some really great tunes. Sadly, his life didn't end well.

Looks like copy of a 40x. I’d say it’s prototype or one-off action.

In a quick goggle search, I turned up a hit for Stewart firearms. Just a home page nothing else. It talked about making their own 22 pistol.

Diggs223, That is who I remember, we were shooting Schutzen silhouette and he had a 45-70 and could shoot it! All the old guys have either passed or have dementia....... I am still checking on ole guys.

He worked at Shultizers in Arkport (50?) years ago, he may very well be gone. I am still looking; wish I could remember the names of the other guys. It will come to me at 3am while I am solving the worlds problems.

Nice rifle! Those are good triggers. I own a couple but the name isn't coming to me at the moment. Clearly, CRS disease. Lol!
Have you got a picture that shows the tang better? Doesn't look factory from what I can tell but I'm not a 40x expert at all. Far from it, but others on here will know for sure.

don't know, only know guy was from hornell made an action. main reason i remember him was i was running a match in april, we had snow 6 8in over night. i went in case someone showed up, he was the only one to show up, drove 1 1/2 hrs.
