FYI Forster 280 AI dies

I purchased a sizing die from Forster for my 280 AI as soon as they came out. I couldn't get the shoulder to set back properly. I called Forster and they said send it in with some fired brass from my rifle. They called me today and said they screwed up and made them with a 35 degree shoulder instead of 40 so they will have to recall all that have been sent out. They told me mine should be done around the first of the year, so if any of you have bought one you will need to send it back to have it fixed.

While I have always appreciated Forster Products, I have to ask at this juncture:

Where was the Quality Control Department?

No one prior to the machining noticed that there was a wrong callout on the print or that the programmer used the wrong points to write the program.

Who grabbed the wrong reamer?

I don't care how high speed their production is, someone's butt should be in a sling!

What a waste!

Yeah that surprised me too. I jokingly told him he could send me a micrometer seater die for my troubles, but he didn't bite.

If the print itself showed 35* it’s pretty easy to see how everything else downstream didn’t catch it. Had a similar thing happen at work with manufacturing some specialty bolts. Thread pitch noted on the design was standard for that bolt size, but it was wrong. Everything checked out only to find out later when I had an upset customer on the phone.
