FX-120I

Yesterday, I received my FX-120I from the U.P.S. delivery guy and the first thing I noticed was the size of this scale and the "ruggedness" of it's construction! I have a GemPro250 that has started floating all over and I have to keep a sharp eye out for irregularities and have begun to constantly calibrate it, even during long use in the middle of loading. However, the little GemPro is accurate. I have been checking the weights between the GemPro and the FX-120I to see how close they are and they are within a few "kernels" of each other on weight. The SPEED at which the FX-120I weighs is incredible! Gone are the days of waiting 5+ seconds for a charge weight and or dropping another kernel or two and watching the scale jump 0.03-0.06grs because it had not yet "weighed" the previous amount correctly and adjusted UPWARD too far! The ONLY drawback, if you can call it a drawback, is the sheer size and the amount of space it takes up! BUT hey, I can live with that for the speed and precision this scale appears to weigh with!!

Oh and I got the idea from a thread here about "Precision Scales" and a Forum Member ("Lil Evil"?? I believe) put a link up for this scale at a firm out of Canada for $400.00! Thanks to him and this Forum, I got what I consider to be an excellent product that will greatly enhance my reloading!

I was the one who let the good folks know in the USA about the canada deal eh !

they sold a bunch over 100 in 2 months thanks to the word getting out ,

nice scale and nice deal Jefferson

(some guys in canuck land are not happy the word was spread so quickly and they are now out of stock oh well you snooze you lose )

I've been wondering if or when anyone would give a review of this scale. I ordered one but cancelled the sale for budget reasons. I'm currently using a GemPro 250 and everything ShootDots says "Gone are the days of waiting 5+ seconds for a charge weight and or dropping another kernel or two and watching the scale jump 0.03-0.06grs because it had not yet "weighed" the previous amount correctly and adjusted UPWARD too far! ", I have had to deal with every time I use it.

I'm curious to see if Cambridge holds the current price when they get more in stock. I'm not holding my breath, but if they do....

I've been using mine for just over a year now. Very happy with it. I searched around and believe I paid almost $500 for it.. You got a good deal at $400.

CSS, I did get a GREAT deal>>>but the "bottom line" is, is that YOU are happy with yours. I have only started with it. I am quite certain I will be happy with mine too! I was VERY happy with the GemPro250 for about a year and a half, til it started it's "deviation" from "normalcy"!! Although some of the problems I experienced with it, I have had to deal with from the get-go.. It has been a decent scale for the $$$'s spent. I will keep it as a back up JUST IN CASE I need it...

I've got one of these on BO from Cambridge. Those of you who have them, what are you using for calibration weights? I've noticed there's a great deal of price variation based on weight tolerance range.

Mine is 50grams... I ordered the weight from Cambridge. The scale has several "weights" you can choose from. They are stored in a "library" in the scale>>>pick the one you need and calibrate.

I think 50 is what I'd like to use since it's closer to the weight range I generally load. The weights on their website don't specify a certification other than ASTM 7 (which "could" be off as much as 7 grams according to research I've done on these certifications). Did it come with any documentation stating what it actually weighed?

You may have been the one who let the good folks in the USA know about the Canada deal for the FX-120i but I think forum member "lil evil" is the one who let us forum members know about the FX-120i $400 Cambridge of Canada good deal through his post. He got the ball rolling for many of us forum members to purchase it from Cambridge.

I always appreciate it when forum members publish good deals on this site, they have saved me a lot of money.

I did not buy this scale from a salesperson. Believe it or not, I bought it from a tech person. The sales team guy was gone for the day and I spoke with the tech guy. He explained everything about the scale to me and stated the 50gram weight is what I wanted and the scale has an internal library so you can set the scale to which gram capacity you need.. 50 was what I needed and I bought a 50gram external weight from Cambridge too along with the scale.

I bought mine in response to lil evil's post about the FX-120I.

That thread claimed that Cambridge knew they were selling these for a great price. That thread also claimed this was a temporary price level and it would be going up. September was mentioned for the increased price, but that doesn't seem to have happened yet.

Well if that be the case Duster, EVERYONE who needs or desires a GREAT scale, needs to get crackin' and get one ordered! They are that good!! Sooner or later, Cambridge will figure it out about reloaders and the price will spike, guaranteed!

This the thread - lil evil's tip was at the bottom of page 1 -

Comment by snakepit on page 4 about the price and eventual increase.....

This is one of the very few times that I actually messed up by not procrasating!
Read about this balance on another website. Was impressed and did some searching
and found it for about $600.00 with shipping. Jumped on it and thought I had a good deal.
No sooner did I receive it when this thread came up about Cambridge selling it for $400.00!
Wow, that hurt! But in the end it is still a excellence balance (scale) and well worth it.

Like I stated earlier in this thread, If YOU are happy, that's all that matters... You will spend more on dinner in a couple of months going out than the difference in the cost of the scale! AND you know what happens to dinner in about 12 hours!!

I took a punt on what I had read on here, after being consistently frustrated with my Gem Pro 250. The Gem Pro is a good little scale but the drifting was driving me crazy.

I ordered my FX 120i in mid November 2013, it arrived last week, never again will I try to save money by using surface shipping! I will add that Cambridge Environment were excellent to deal with and followed up my concerns about the lengthy delivery.

Upon opening the FX 120i I wasn't sure if I was supposed to stand on the scale while holding the weighing pan, yes it really is big! especially when you sit it next to the Gem Pro, even the Charge master looks small in comparison.

I have to say though that other than the foot print of the FX 120i it really has passed my expectations. Zero drifting and super fast at giving measured weights. I'm loading for multiple calibers and the time saving on not having to calibrate frequently while in use and not having to wait for the scales to catch up really will make a difference.

Sorry I don't remember the company name, but I ordered a FX120 I and about a week later I received a box, to my surprise when I opened it there was a FX 300i!! I called the company to see if a mistake hade been made , they said " No" that the FX120i was on back order for several months,so they upgraded me at no extra charge. It's the same scale and features, just more capacity. It has been great in co-ordination with my Prometheus II.
