Fury actions

Hello
I see some of you building things on the Fury case.
What actions are you using.?
The whole point of the Fury is to go to 80k psi.
Which actions are rated for this?

Apparently, no particular action is really needed as I see on SigSauer's website selling hunting rounds pushing Nosler Accubond150 gr bullets to 3,120 fps from a 24" barrel. That's a lot of pressure, probably close to the 80k max and there's no apparent warning for using them in the general market.

Most modern actions will with stand quite a bit more of the bolt thrust presented with a 80,000 psi load as long as the cartridge case holds up.
Since case strength is what the Sig Fury is all about, there should be no problem.

If you take the typical 300 Remington Ultramag, with it’s much larger internal head dimension, (square inches), at it it’s rating of 65,000 psi, and compare it to the Sig Fury’s much smaller internal head square inches, the 80,000 psi might be a wash as far as bolt thrust is concerned in a typical modern actions.

Even old military actions have been tested to over 100,000 psi before some type of failure, and most of those were more in lug set back due to the lower alloy steels used in most of those.

I think thats the idea behind the Federal Back Country ammo also.
Steel alloy case that can take higher pressures.
It's the case thats the weak point, not the action.

Remington 700s have been tested to 140K, Winchester 70s have been tested to 130K, Tikkas have been tested to 120K.

Here is a link to a video where Ultimate Reloader shot some very stout loads in a 308 in a BAT action.

When you say “have been tested to…”
Do you mean currently?

What a lot of actions have that will cause problems is related to the firing pin. Too much clearance or too big in diameter.

They may take 80,000 a few times but what about after 1000 rounds.
What about the barrels?
I think Frank ( Bartlien) touched on this in the Backcountry thread.
