Fullbore elbow rests

Hi Everyone,

I am going to have a try at fullbore shooting & was wondering if there were gel pads on the market that I could use. I have a tendon problem in the left elbow & though if there was a pad I could put on the ground for extra padding.

Any thoughts??

Cheers & Good Shooting.

R,

I don't know about gel pads, but what I use are basically girl's volley ball knee-pads... the big round style. A 'small' is about the right size for my arms, and allows me to lay in comfort on paved firing lines. From what I gather, the knee pads have thicker/heavier padding than most elbow pads, and hold up better.

Like Milanuk, I use knee/elbow pads when shooting prone, but I don't have Tendonitis, YET ). Two Gel pads might be the answer for you.

Actually, you are not supposed to use your elbow, but use the flat of the upper arm BEHIND the elbow. Using the elbow causes your supporting arm to wabble about.

As to the other elbow, I use a shooting jacket with padding and a sweatshirt under it and it provides protection.

George,

Sounds good in theory, and yes, I've tried it), but it doesn't work for everyone. Even when it does, concrete gets dang hard on a person at times.

I too have problems with my left elbow, sling arm). I have tried many different pads. The best for me and the one I use now is the Blackhawk Neoprene Elbow Pads with Hawktex Grip Surface. In the winter I shoot indoors in a smallbore league on a concrete floor. I used to get terrible left elbow pain. Since using these I am quite comfortable shooting prone.
