Full Length Size or Neck Size

Who has a preference? I've always just neck sized and have never had an extraction problem. What say ye?

I mourn the day I have to FL size brass.

- Goodby perfectly matched H20 capacity, super low runout, easy bolt opening, stable dimensions and seemingly forever to last brass.
- Hello shoulder bumping, threaded body die. I'll have to use you from this day forward.

Even running moderate loads, with every cartridge, this day comes around eventually.

The trick to FL sizing is to have a die that matches your chamber. They are available on a custom basis. Many top Benchrest shooters FL size every time. Their dies match their chambers, and the runout is excellent. For an off the shelf setup with unturned necks, try a body die and then a Lee Collet die for the neck. Runout should be pretty good.

Just my $.02 of NSHO, FL resizing ruins more brass than it helps. If you have to bump the shoulder back to ease bolt closing, bump the shoulder. Leave the body as is!

I'm with Boyd on this one. I FL size every time now. I use Type S Redding dies for my rifles with min spec chambers. My consistancy has gone up both over the chrono and on target. The brass lasts just as long as it did before.

That being said, for a factory chamber I would recommend neck sizing to get more life out of your brass.
