Due to a lot of rainy weather I decided to spend a bit of time practicing indoors before the last match, and learned a number of important lessons. Bipod board, rifle, and rear bag were setup on a carpet floor; there was no aiming point, just an off-white wall as the background. Maybe I'm ADD, but I immediately began to notice a number of fine points about my setup which could be improved upon, that I thought were fine when shooting at the range. Moved the scope forward around 1/4 in, added another butt spacer, raised rear bag 1/4 in, lowered cheek rest significantly, and modified grip to a two hand hold. At the subsequent match my long term comfort and lack of repositioning during the firing string was much improved. Dry firing without the "distraction" of a target provided the environment which immediately led me to focus on important factors that were "lost" in the noise during live fire practice. I'm headed back to practice again now!
