FTR barrel

Going to re-barrel for next year. Not sure between 30, 31, 32".

Shooting a 185 Jugg for now. Will be for 600 and 1,000.

Recommendations welcome?

Bartlein 28" HV profile with a 10 twist would fit the bill nicely IME

Brux, Broughton, Obermeyer, and Kreiger have all won their fair share of national titles too.

What is your weight budget?
Looks like Steve beat me to it....a lot of the decision has to do with weight and contour choices. The difference between 30" and 32" is not much at all on the target. Go with the heaviest contour you can handle. I'd choose a heavier contour over a longer barrel.

If you are seriously going to shoot 1,000 yards in competition, such as F/TR, get 30-32". Hey, if you get mad at it, your gunsmith can hacksaw the other 2-4", whatever makes you happy. Or the gunsmith can cut it to reduce weight, if your rifle must make a slightly lower weight. But it will be there if you need it, for being able to hit a node at lower pressure and maintain velocity. You will likely drop a dime on a real long cleaning rod at these lengths. If you just want to make sure your Juggs get to 1,000 yards in good shape, 26" should be plenty. I've shot 185 VLD from a 22" barrel at 1,000 yards, and it was OK - as in "so-so". In a faster cartridge than .308 Win, such as .30-'06 or a magnum, 24" will do fine. 10" twist is definitely recommended, at which point you can shoot up to and including the Berger 215 hybrid, although you lose a bit of BC due to slightly slower than optimal twist for that bullet. Forget it and just shoot the 185's. 180 grain JLK long boattail bullets are better, but cost more. Of course, if price is no object, get Warner Tool milled bullets, but check their length-to-BC for weight, since they may need a faster twist than other bullets, to optimize BC at longer range. See the Berger website on info about calculating optimal twist rate based on velocity, caliber, bullet weight, BC, and bullet length. With Barnes TTSX bullets, you also may need to limit weight based on the optimal twist rate calculation, since I think they likewise tend to need a faster twist for similar weight, compared to non-tipped bullets. Probably the same with AMAX, but I have not shot the .30 cal AMAX.
