Very nice low mileage Savage .308 Palma rifle. Ideal for factory class both in Palma and F Class. Adj. cheekpiece and buttplate, 30" barrel, 12 twist, wt. about 13 1/4 lb., light enough to add scope and still make FTR wt. Throat and rifling is exc., checked out with Hawkeye borescope. Has recessed target crown. Has an exc. stock, a few light press marks in the finish is all. Holiday Special, $1295 shipped and insured. Yes, you can see that in the first picture. The trigger guard is longer in the front because Savage moved the rear action screw forward to permit bedding on both sides of the hole -- on the 4.27 and 4.4, it was so close to the trigger assembly that you could only bed the upstream side of the hole. Lots easier if you want to pillar bed too.

Prettiest rifle Savage ever built. If I could afford another Palma from SBS on top of the one I bought from him earlier this summer, I'd be all over this. The last one I got from SBS put up a 199-9X string in a mid-range F/TR match just a few weeks after I got it! Still have plenty to gain with proper load development!

When did Savage start building right bolt left port Palmas?
I own three old Savage Palmas and have never seen a left port.
Just curious.
By the way, those rifles perform amazingly well. They don't know they ought to sell for twice the price.
