Didn’t know they made the single shot open top varmint action in a 3screw 3.4” bolt spacing like the target actions? That’s a rare bird! Did you have it drilled for that or did it come that way?

I have one in a 4.25 and one in a 4.4, but no 3.4 3-screw.

Very nice looking rig!

Look closer.... it's a standard shank. It has to be an old style single shot that was drilled to fit into that stock. It's most probably a 4.275", that's the only spacing that could be drilled to 3.44 without interfering with another hole. And, that won't hurt a thing.

Yup, they made them in 3.4 & 4.4 Target actions. Both right port and Left port. It is easy to make a 4.4action a 3.4 just drill and tap another hole in bottom of action. It didn't take them long to drop the 3.4 action. All target actions short are Large shank.

It shot great.

It has been close to 10 years since I have shot it. I lost my notebook with my load info and can’t remember particulars but do remember I was very happy with it.

I do remember shooting it once at 800 yds and it shot a 5 1/2 inch five shot group.

What is the trigger it isn't a Savage Accu-Trigger with the Red blade like all Savage Target Actions come with???? Do you have the original trigger?? Is it a Large Shank barrel & action??

Hey Russ,
The action appears to be a small shank action and a standard accutrigger as well.
This action appears to be a single shot pre-target action, before the large shank and target trigger.

I edited the ad, after reading the replies I don’t think it is a target action. It has a accu-trigger that breaks cleanly at 1lb 14 oz.
It is a small shank as far as I can tell. I bought the action used from Savage Shooters forums several years ago.

The target actions are all Large Shank 3 screw short actions either 4.4 or 3.4 they made less 3.4's with the red trigger that can be adjusted down 6oz.
