Frustration Alert: Vertebrae Customer Service

Well, it's been almost 2 months now and the muzzle break I ordered from Vertebrae in Norway has still not arrived. This is extremely frustrating for me as I can't continue with my current rifle build until I have a muzzle break. I don't understand why they don't offer tracking on the items they send via post. I have no way of knowing when to expect it or where it might be. This is the most exasperating experience I have ever had with a transaction involving firearms parts…ever! I waited 3 weeks before he agreed to send me another. I learned about this company from this website which gave them a favorable write up and was expecting a quick and professional experience. Is there some sort of recourse besides venting on the forum?

International shipments can take a while. Perhaps it's held up in customs...

But in the meantime, may I suggest that this situation isn't so bad; your ears, and those of fellow nearby shooters, will thank you for not using a brake. Unless the rifle/cartridge combo is so hard-kicking that you cannot shoot without a brake.

I hate the damned things. I know they work, but they are a recipe for permanent hearing damage if you're not careful.

Regardless, good luck getting your item in the near future. 8)

Hope that US Customs doesn't confiscate your muzzle brake upon entry into this country!
Good point. I am acquainted with a guy whose rifle was confiscated when he left a gun show because his rifle had a muzzle brake and the agent thought it was a silencer.

If I were that anxious to finish up the project I would find another break to screw on until the other one arrives! Shrewd makes an inexpensive break, when your done with it sell it. I have two of those and they work really well.

His reply to my nasty-gram, (more of a peevish-gram really)

"Sir,

I do offer tracking. Tracking for a muzzle brake to the UK is 25 pounds, so naturally almost all customers choose regular mail for such a small item.

In the few cases Royal Mail has been unable to deliver, the package has always been returned to the return address on the back of the packet. However, with your order it seems to be different. Not only have Royal Mail not delivered two sequential packets, they haven't returned them to me. I'll file a formal complaint with Royal Mail today,, and ask them to investigate the issue.

Have you checked with your local post office? They might remember the packets, or it could be lying there waiting for you. I don't believe it could be stuck in customs, since HM Customs always contacts the recipient when they need more information about a shipment.

I'm of course willing to cancel this order, but I'm afraid I must wait for Royal Mail looking into the issue first. I'm also of course not sending any more items via airmail before they've found the problem.

However, I can ship a muzzle brake with tracking. Do you want me to send you a PayPal invoice for the shipping charges?

Asked him to "please cancel my order" and promptly ordered a Tubb tunable brake with locking nut, should get here in a week. Hope I get my money back but a "Royal investigation" doesn't sound very expeditious in the least. Yes, I checked with my local and main USPS branch offices. They doubted it was hung up in customs as I would have been notified by now.
