Frustrated with manufacturers

What's up now days? I can't imagine that stock builders barrel makers and so on are months to even years behind schedule, looking at matches I do not see any more new shooters as before when I competed. Then there are promises deliver in such and such a time and that times goes by ten fold?
I'm sitting here right now with over twenty grand in supplies components actions barrels scopes and am waiting on 500.00 stocks. To finish building and start competing again. I guess more than waiting I'm just sick and tired of lies and broken promises of when I should expect my order in and only to get more lies and broken promises.
If something don't happen soon I'm gonna have a whole bunch of stuff up for sale.

The "shortage" is in skilled people and subsequently finished products. Boomer machinists, tool & die makers and other single machine tool disciplines are retiring, dying off, or otherwise getting out of the metalworking industries. Many factors are involved, "free" trade, a government culture of "we don't need manufacturing", globalization, lack of apprentices coming through the pipeline, and a shift to low wage, low regulation overseas outsourcing. I don't see any improvement, in fact it will get progressively worse as there was little to no metalworking training of people in the post boomer generation. Hog

Having just gone through the wait list for a trade school I can tell you there is not a shortage of people like most seem to believe there is. I had to wait a year and a half to get in to colorado school of trades and trinidad is even worse. Part of the problem is employers wanting to hire someone on and offer them minimum wage to do work in a shop were the slightest mistake can result in someone getting maimed or killed. It is far easier to just go work some were else and not have to put up with extremely high detail oriented stress that comes with this field.

I dont know what to tell you but as a custom stock maker i can tell you. I am as much as 8 months behind as i type this. To make it worse for myself i go in for back surgery next week. I have a small one person business.

I wish you a safe surgery and a quick recovery. My issue is the lies, don't tell me when I place an order it'll be 6-8 weeks and 6-8 months later it's still not here. And each time asked when can I expect it and each answer is 2 weeks. That's what chaps me more than anything.

I do understand and to be honest i dont know what to tell you except to be blatantly up front and ask for the most honest answer you can get because your tired of being lied to.
Thanks about the surgery i hope it goes fast also at least faster than the last time i had it done in 1994. Being a pipefitter sure is hard on the body hense the change in professions, tired of hurting all the time.

Two comments, There isn't a shortage of applicants but there is a shortage of EXPERIENCED skilled people.
Been making chips for 50 years. There is no stress if you know what you are doing.
