I'm just getting started in rimfire benchrest (USBR) and plan on shooting in the Sporter Class.
I was at two different rimfire matches recently looking at equipment, rifles, asking questions, etc. I had many offers to join them and use there rifles and equipment. The shooters went out of there way to help me which I really appreciated.
I'm in the market for a new front rest. I tired the following rest, Farley, Fulghum and a Cowan. There were some shooters that had a mix match set, different tops and bottoms. I wouldn't have known the difference if they wouldn't have told me. I'm inclined to like the Fulghum style a little more.
I will be shooting a Anschutz 1712. Since it is a very narrow stock near the front, I was told to have the rest as close to the magazine as possible. By shooting this way, a joy stick starts to get in the way and the Cowan style with the long rear leg is a little longer than the Fulghum style.
So, the questions is, I like the Fulghum, JJ-Industries, Sinclair, etc. styles, are these rest over kill for rimfire matches? I most probably would move up to another class in rimfire, but not large bore.
Some of the companies I have checked with have a very long waiting period except for Sinclair that has theirs in stock and is also a little cheaper. I have been checking at several forums, but have not see any for sale so far.
Any help in this area would be appreciated.
Thanks
