From ridiculous to insane

So I went to Bass Pro here in Palm Bay Florida while up this way shooting an F/TR match.

We all know Bass Pro pricing for powders and primers has been high, maybe ridiculously high, but sometimes if you need something fast or just wanted to try something different It might be worth it to pay extra for that convenience of walk in, walk out.

Well no more for this consumer. They have raised their prices on many Hodgdon, IMR, and Alliant powders from $4 to $10 a pound. H4895 is now $39.95/lb as is IMR 8208XBR! Many of the Alliant powders are now $45/lb !!!

Bass Pro has lost me as a customer for any product from now on.

I will not buy from them either. Everything they have is way over priced. Can't afford their clothes. I don't want to pay for the mounts, fish tanks,etc.. They need to come back to earth for real people. Whining Over...

Not confirmed yet, but heard that Bass Pro bought out Cabelas. Cabelas prices were already kind of up there on components so if this buyout is true, I hope they don't get higher yet.

Cabales has their own bank for their credit cards.. Bass pro wanted them for that reason from what I understand.. Iam sure theres other things but from what I have been told by managers there, that was a big reason.

I needed a .20 caliber dewey rod and the 17a adapter. Cabelas was so high on their price I was able to order the rod and adapter plus $11.00 shipping from dewey and it was still cheaper.

Cabela's has not always been high priced. I can remember back in the '80's when they were 15-20% lower priced than Bass-Pro. Shipping was quite reasonable, too. That changed about the mid to late '90's and I quit buying from them as they were no longer competive with local retail. I'm with LoneHunter, I don't feel the need to shop in a store that spends money to offer a "Disney Land" experience when I walk through the door. JMO, dedogs

You guys in the lower 48 don't know how good life is when it comes to purchasing haz mat materials.

FedEx &/or UPS will not ship haz mat materials to AK or HI....period....a freight forwarder has to be contracted.

Stock up now....as in 10+ years or so, no powder or projos will be manufactured in the once great USofA.

I'm glad my 300+Lbs of powder & 60+ thousand primers were purchased prior to the Obami regime!

The only way to get a break at Cabela's is to wait for their dollar or percentage off coupons. I've never seen any such promotions at BassPro. In my neck of the woods, the LGS prices are the same as Cabela's.

My local BP has evolved towards a family store vs sporting goods, with a lot of store brand crap. Poorly stocked, with little in the loading dept. I used to shop there a lot, but little now as its usually a wasted trip. Disappointing.

This is gona happen at cabelas now I think.. I hear a lot of grumbling from employees about being short handed when we go there. Since the buy out the shelves are not stocked as nicely as they used to be.. And yes the only way to buy there is to watch the sales.
They are cheaper than the LGS in the podunk town I live in on powder and primers but it's an hour drive there and back so unless you really need it your not saveing much after you add in gas.

FWIW, got a fellow huntin' buddy (a licensed plumber) and ALL his tools, materials, fittings, toilets, sinks, etc. are paid for w/ his Cabelas card. Racks up the points, I'll tell ya'. Nearly every month he's trading his points for some of that high priced Cabelas gear/powder/bullets. Figures his customers are a not-so-minor funding source for his shooting. o_O

That's a shame. Makes me want to load up a Semi and head north... in the summer of course. dedogs

Not thru Canada unless sealed & bonded!
Semi Trailer loaded on a barge from SeaTac in WA up thru Inside Passage to AK is the only way haz mat items come into AK.
