from naked amax to molied

ok,
I am running the naked 75 gr a max through my 22-250 ai at about 3350 this spring with the big push i couldn't find any more, but did find 600 of the moly coated 75's. what i am wondering is if i was to throw a few of these new bullets on my usual load what is going to happen theoretically with speed and accuracy, will i have to play with these loads much to tune them back in to ragged one hole groups?

In my experience most likely you will need to rework the load. My rifles generally take about an extra grain of powder to get back to the same velocity. Good luck.

Why not just put them in the tumbler and remove most of the moly.

i have read about acetone soak, will that mess with them or just loosen the moly

you could run them through you vibrator and remove the molly and not have to worry

ill have to do that then and then i should be able to run them near what i am at now with the nakeds

I would just run the moly as tumbling can put little dents sometime's in the jacket,not always but it does.You wont have much coppering either but you should clean when you get home with butch's or #9 hoppe's.

i ended up tumbling the moly off, but didnt run it for a long time so there is still just a slight sheen of moly on it. we will see how this works out. they looked good, no noticeable dents or marks

after tumbling the moly off of these bullets I loaded some up with the same load and measurements I was using before and it is shooting a good tight group at 200 again, I just need to look at the chrono numbers and see what i am working with.
