Frog hunting

No frogs out West where I live but I remember my Uncle taking me out to the various ponds on his
Tennessee tobbacco farm when I was around 13 years old. I guarantee you your son will remember these times his whole life. It's been around 45 years for me and feels like yesterday. Good times!

Searcher I know exactly what you are saying, you're right!
As for the frogs, the government once sprayed all of northern Virginia with DDT to kill the Japanese beetle invasion, up and down the Potomac river.
The frogs disappeared completely, however the FEDS said they had nothing absolutely to do with it, it was a nature type thing, YEA RIGHT!.

Since then they have put chemicals in the streams and Chesapeake bay to kill all the weed beds so it doesn't affect boat traffic. However that has killed the habitat that the Maryland blue crab uses as part of it's life cycle.
So now I pay $60.00 added to my tax's for Chesapeake Bay Survival !

Read this twice and think about it!

You are correct changeling, our frogs are messed up from agriculture spray from 30-40 years ago and still won't thrive in ponds that ran into. The pasture ponds are still productive as they were before so I can compare the difference. Somehow that stays in the mud for what seems to be a very long time.

Funny that you should mention that, I grew up in middle Tennessee. We frogged *a lot*. We shot them with 22 short hollow points when we could and gigged when we had to.

I once walked up to a single pond with a box, a full clip, and a partial clip. When I left, I was catching them with my hands. I was by myself and could barely carry that stringer.

Since we got into the 25 cal air rifles, I really wish that we could try them on frogs, but no shooting them here.
