Freedom Benchrest Match 1 and 2 1000 Yards RWB Gun Range Tennille Ga March 23&24 2024

Come on down to Beautiful Tennille Ga and tame the March winds on March 23 and 24 @ 8am Saturday and Sunday.
We will be shooting Light Gun Heavy Gun and Tactical if we have 2 or more Factory class guns we will shoot them as well.
Match Fees are 25.00 per Gun includes Lunch on Saturday. I hear Tators Bar and Grill is importing something new for Saturday evening Im sure it will be great. Donations for meal on Saturday evening as always.
We will be shooting 2 target agg format with 5 shoots for Light ,Heavy and Tactical Guns.

Looking forward to getting the 1000 Yard Season started off it looks like is going to strong year of 1000 yard shooting with all the 1000 yard Clubs in Freedom Benchrest.

Match 2 Freedom Benchrest 1000 Yards is in the Books

Here is a run down of the weekends events

Match one started out wet and foggy with some unseen conditions but all the shooter quickly adapted and made a very competitive event out of it by the time the sun showed thru.
Blake Wilson took home the light gun score win with a 96 . The top 10 where only separated by 6 points with Scott Spelbring and Benny Steelman rounding out the top 3 .
In Light Gun Group it was Glenn Hiett edging out Blake Wilson and Tim Broach .
Glenn had a 2 target agg of 4.000
Blake Wilson won Light Gun Overall.

Blake was shooting 6 mm with a Borden action with a Brux Barrel Chambered by Larry Archer in a PRT Hammerhead Stock shooting Vapor Trail Bullets
Glenn Was shooting a 6 mm in a Bat action with a Brux Barrel in a Sitman Stock Built by Lew Loyd pushing 103 Vapor Trails.

In Heavy Gun it was was The Bob and Benny Steelman Show
Bob beat out Lew Loyd and Mike Brown to win HG Score with a 98 ,Benny took the HG Group with a 5.249 to beat out Bob Steelman and Lew Loyd.
When it was all said and done it was Bob Steelman Beating Lew Loyd and Benny to Win HG Overall.
Bob was shooting a 284 on a Kelbly action with a Kreiger Barrel .
Benny was shooting a 7x300wsm on a Kauger action Built By Chris Nichols shooting Berger 190s

In The Tactical Class it was Bob Steelman and Scott Spelbring battling it out with Bob winning Group with a 7.728 and Scott winning score with a 94, Scott held on to take the Tactical overall win .
Bob was shooting a 6.5 Creed Browing , Scott was shooting a 6 dasher with a defiance action built by himself in a Manners chassis shooting Berger 105.

When all was said and done it was The RWB Defending Points Champion Blake "Pork Chop" Wilson who took the 2 gun Overall winner .

Some highlights
Mike "Mr Sandbagger" Brown with the Best HG Score Target with a 49 1 x 5.081 as well as best LG Group 2.710 48.
Benny Steelman Best HG Group Target 46 4.912 .
Blake Wilson with Best LG Score Target 49 1 x 3.798

After everything was finished up it was time for Tator's Bar and Grill to show out with some a low country boil that was absolutely Great.

Sunday morning it was all about the cold and wind .

In Heavy Gun it was a New Wilson to the top with Steve Wilson Holding off older brother Mike and nephew Blake to win HG Score and HG Overall
Steve was shooting a 6bra in a Kauger action with a Brux Barrel in a Wheeler stock Built By Larry Archer shooting Vapor Trail 103
Chris Davis slowed the Wilson domination down by winning HG Group with a 5.009
Chris was shooting a 300 in a Lawton Action with a Bartlein Barrel chambered by Larry Archer and shooting Vapor Trail 204s

In Light Gun it was Mike Wilson and Glenn Hiett battling for the LG Overall spot Mike won LG score edging out Son Blake Wilson with a 94 and Glenn took Top Honors in LG Group beating out his Gunsmith Lew Loyd Glenn won with a 5.774 agg when it was all said and Done Glenn snuck by for the LG overall win.
Glenn was shooting a 6mm in a bat action with a Brux Barrel built by Lew Loyd shooting Vapor Trail 103.
Mike was shooting a Larry Archer built 6 BRAW with a Kauger Action and Brux Barrel in a McMillan Stock pushing Vapor Trail 103.

In Tactical it was Bob Steelman and Scott Spelbring Battling it out Scott won Score Bob Won Group and ended up Taking Tactical Overall.


We had a good turnout of tactical guns this weekend its fun to see new shooters and experienced shooters come together in this class and have fun they all get better every match.
When Sunday's events where complete it was Glenn Hiett Standing on Home Plate in the Laura Kauger Victory Lane Presented By Hornady.

David and Myself cant say Thank You enough to each and every person that comes and Supports the RWB we are truly a Great Big Family that grows every match. This weekend had its weather challenges but not one time did anyone complain heck Tony Parker went fishing at the ravine at Target 3 almost caught a Great White Shark LOL .
It was good to see the shooters that had been under the weather back you are all still in our prayers , It was a blast sitting around eating laughing and listing to everyone.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again in a few weeks

Great weekend had by all, despite the weather!! Congratulations to all who participated, these guys are all winners in my book!! Congratulations Tony for winning “ Big Fish” for the weekend !! Thanks to Red White and Blue , Donna and David, “Taters Grill gang” and most of all “ Freedom Benchrest” and the good lord for making it all possible!! Look forward to the next time!!
