2025 Colorado State Championship
10/4/25 & 10/5/25 match report
Day 1 Saturday of the two day state match.It was a very windy day in Western Colorado with sustained winds over 20 mph at times. The wind was very challenging all day.
Temperatures ranged from about 60 to mid 70’s when we finished at 2 pm.
The mirage was manageable.
We drew for bench assignments and weighed our rifles.
Ed Buniger shot the match with his new pistol in 6 Dasher and did very well.
Everyone pitched in to to make it a fun and successful event.
13 shooters enjoyed the day of friendly competition.
We started the day with Light gun.
Tim Barber won LG with a 4 target Agg of 3.245” and a score of 186. Clay Fowler took 2nd in LG with 4 target agg of 3.337” and a score of 182.
Tharron Pace placed 3rd in LG with a 4 target Agg of 3.379” and a score of 185.
The smallest group in LG was Randy Carter with 1.182” , Clay Fowler with a 2.230” and Jim Shelley with 2.290”
Next was tactical. Randy Carter won with a 4 target agg of 4.259” and a score of 171 and Scott Wilson took 2nd with a 4 target agg of 6.050 and a score of 112. Clay Fowler placed 3rd with a 4 target agg of 7.092 and a score of 87.
Smallest group was Randy Carter with a 3.167”, Clay Fowler with 3.822.
We finished the day with HG. Tim Barber won HG with a 4 target agg of 3.070” and a score of 180.
Randy Carter was 2nd with a 4 target agg of 3.132” and a score of 166, Dennis Prendergast took 3rd with a 4 target agg of 3.527” and a score of 177.
Smallest group in HG was Dennis Prendergast with a 2.166”, Tim Barber with a 2.185 and Randy Carter with a 2.387”.
Two gun overall was won by Tim Barber with an 8 target agg of 3.158” and a score of 366. Randy Carter was 2nd with a 8 target agg of 3.294” and a score of 346.
Tharron Pace was 3rd with a 8 target agg of 3.903” and a score of 359.
Day 2, Sunday of the two day state match.
The winds calmed down but they were still challenging.
Temperatures ranged from about 58 to 68 when we finished at 2 pm.
Everyone rotated two benches to the right.
Three new range records were set on Sunday and three screamer groups were shot !!!
We started the day with Heavy gun.
Dakoda Pace won HG with a 4 target Agg of 1.737” and a score of 194 7X (a new HG group agg range record !!!) Clay Fowler took 2nd in HG with 4 target agg of 1.789” and a score of 193.
Jerry Carter took 3rd in HG with a 4 target Agg of 1.839” and a score of 188.
The smallest group in HG was Jerry Carter with .643” (a new HG smallest group range record!) Tim Barber with a .877” and Dakoda Pace with 1.260”.
Next was tactical. Scott Wilson won with a 4 target agg of 2.902” and a score of 191. (A new tactical score record !!!).
Randy Carter took 2nd with a 4 target agg of 3.194” and a score of 131. Clay Fowler took 3rd with a 4 target agg of 3.565” and a score of 165.
Smallest group was Scott Wilson with a 2.064” , Jim Shelley with 2.329” and Clay Fowler with a 2.378”.
We finished the day with LG. Dakoda Pace won LG with a 4 target agg of 2.405”” and a score of 183.
Tim Barber was 2nd with a 4 target agg of 2.669” and a score of 181, Clay Fowler took 3rd with a 4 target agg of 2.830” and a score of 182.
Smallest group in LG was Scott Wilson with a .950”, Dennis Prendergast with a 1.190” and Dakoda Pace with a 1.455”.
Two gun overall was won by Dakoda Pace with an 8 target agg of 2.071” and a score of 377. Clay Fowler was 2nd with a 8 target agg of 2.309” and a score of 375.
Jerry Carter was 3rd with a 8 target agg of 2.418” and a score of 377.
The Grand AGG combined two day award for the 600 yard Colorado State benchrest championship was won by Tim Barber with a 16 target agg of 2.793” and a total score of 735,
Clay Fowler took 2nd with a 16 target agg of 3.246” and a total score of 723.
Randy Carter took 3rd with a 16 target agg of 2.989” and a total score of 707,
Jerry Carter took 4th with a 16 target agg of 3.322” and a total score of 724.
This award takes score and group into consideration.
3rd place was incorrectly awarded to Jerry Carter at the range. The computer program sorted Jerry Carter's name above Randy Carter's name, they both had the same overall ranking of an 8 but Randy Carter's 16 shot agg was smaller so this was the tie breaker. The award has been delivered to Randy Carter. We apologize for this mistake.
The certificate fort the BRUX barrel was won by Tom Vader.
Thank you to Shiela Barber for helping out in the score shack and thank you to all the competitors for a safe and efficient set up and tear down of the target frames etc. It is a well oiled machine now.

We are taking November off.
