I have a 7.62 X 39 barrel that engraves the bullets approx 1/16 inch. The engraving rolls up copper as though the the end of the lands is sharp. This is true witk milsurp and PMC both.

My thought is to rent a reamer and run it in till I have "zero" freebore.

Is this common with Savage take-offs? Barrel is stainless and looks quality but has no calibre or length markings or brand. Is there some way to ID the mfr from marlings? I t is marked "10"...7.62x39.....Sm....S5.....8". Marking is made with scribe point by hand.

Youll really mess it up with another reamer. You cant run a reamer in deeper and shorten freebore. You can throat it out longer with a throating reamer or get it rechambered or have a gunsmith polish the throat you have. If you have mag length and neck to spare id throat it til you can get a new barrel
