Free recoil or pressure holding ?

Looking for some insight on 600-1000 yd BR. I used to shoot short range with a PPC, now I'm having a new 6mmBR built for LR. I don't have it yet, but I used to always shoot the PPC free recoil. When shooting LR do you shoot free recoil or have some pressure on the stock (thimb or grip)? This will be a 17 lb LV rig. I would suppose on the paper would dictate, but wanted to know how most of you are shooting the 6mmBR now. Do you hold with the 6 Dasher ?
Thanx again

rmist04,
If you can shoot free recoil, it would be best. But I can't shoot it myself, I hold my guns, 6BR and 6BRX 17lb guns. Shoot what works for you.

BRX shooter......Free recoiler...Make sure the scope hits you every time you pull the trigger just enough to leave a good bump right above the eyebrow at the end of the day. This is a sign of consistant shooting or maybe just a hard head.....lol

It will depend on the stock and bag set up, also how the gun ballances. I shoot 2 dashers. One free recoil, the other pinned. They both shoot very accurately. Post some more info on your set up. At the end of the day you will have to expirement, which you already know.

My new LV (17lbs) will have a BAT action (have action), McMillan Tooley MBR stock(still 3 months out- at least), 2-28" Krieger 4 groove barrels (should be in around end of Apr or beginning of May), Jewel trigger (have trigger), and a 12x42 NF NXS in Sheehan rings w/20MOA base (have scope & rings). I will be using my old front rest which is a older Bald Eagle slingshot. At the moment I don't have a rear bag for it yet. Looking at the SEB with twisted ears or Protector Bumble Bee

Thanx BRX shooter I will try to remember that when I'm at the range !!! Sound advice ... LOL !!

trying to only have one user name- depends on which computer I'm on. !! PM'ed forum boss about it.

Oh, I don't know about all this free recoil BS. It depends on how and what you shoot. I did manage to shoot a pretty good group once (200-19X) at 600. Pinned that sucker to the rest until it almost tipped over. It was only a 6brx with a 22 lb rifle so there was not very much recoil. If you shoot an RSAUM at mach chicken you might not want to do that. Whatever you do, you need to do it the same every time. I think free recoil is more foregiving, pressure can give you higher scores, BUT you can chuck points real fast if you are not consistent.
