Franklin arsenal platinum trimming center

Anyone have experience with the Franklin arsenal platinum trimmer ? I just bought one on sale at Midway. I also bought an rcbs carbide cutting bit , because they only send steel cutters with the case trimming tool. Most reviews were 5 star except the ones complaining about the cheap steel cutters. Seems like a good alternative to the Giraud trimmer.

i have had mine for 3 years now. use it a LOT. replaced the cutters with Lyman brand. all good there.

it has been flawless in it's operation. i use it for all calibers (.223, 6BR, and .308) for chamfering and deburring.. However, i only trim the .308 cases with it. it's a bit busy to change calibers for trimming, and not usable for trimming 6BR cases (who trims them anyway?) because the case is too short to hold on to.. i could trim the .223 cases with it, but i don't like changing the trim setup off the .308 cases (too lazy), so when i need to trim .223, i use a Forester manual trimmer.

within these limits, it is a very good tool. my shooting buddy has one as well, and his has performed as advertised. he only shoots .308 though

As swadiver indicated, I've used it for years for 308 brass - love it! Also switched the cutters with Lyman brand. Can't imagine trimming, chamfering and brushing (inside of the necks) without this tool.

I bought one yesterday. it does the job and is accurate but my fingers are sore from holding the case. I need to figure out a better way to hold the case
I've tried a few things for this throughout the years (i.e., gloves, piece of rubber, piece of leather, etc.) to help grip the brass, and keep from making my fingers sore. What finally worked for me was to buy cheap heavy duty rubber thimbles, which I put on my thumb and index finger. Definitely helps to grip the brass when pushing it into the trimmer and when chamfering. Just a tip: make sure to buy the correct size thimbles (may need to but two sizes - one size for thumb and one size for index finger). Fortunately, they're cheap and will last you a long time. This will definitely help.

Here's an example of what I buy:

Keep'em coming . Now I don't feel bad dropping $$$ on trimmer and carbide cutter . I think my 6.5 Grendel case is gonna be a PITA with it's short fat length .
