Frankford Arsenal Depriming Tool - Lapua Brass

Any idea how to remove a piece of brass that's stuck in the hand depriming tool? The flash hole on this Lapua brass is just big enough to force the decapping pin through, but it's tight enough that I can't pull the brass out. Can't get a shell holder on for a better grip due to the pin sticking out. Any ideas?

Don't know why I didn't think of that, thanks! Put it in the freezer for a bit then dunked the case head in boiling water. Chucked the depriming pin in a drill and it came right out. Mostly just needed something to hold onto! I'll be following as I've seen suggested somewhere here - I'll sand down the pin slightly tonight. Thanks!

*edit*
I filed the pin down to 1.48mm (flash hole on this Lapua 6.5 CM (yes that's Creedmoor, not Competition Match ) is 1.5mm) and it works like a charm.

I heard back from FA. I was told that a solution is to file the pin down, and if you need a spare pin for the FA depriming hand tool, a Lee universal decapping pin can be used as a direct replacement. Apparently, FA has had or is in discussion about making a pin with a smaller diameter, but I wasn't told if there will be anything offered.

They're not made for Lapua brass....too big.
I use a Mighty Armory decapper on all my Lapua brass.....
FA will work well on most other brass however.

Actually a good cautionary tale. I have some Lapua brass coming and will check de-priming pin fit before I prime any. Who would even think of that? You may have saved me from the same problem. Thanks!

Yup...You figure it out real quick with the first one...its kinda tight and you may not really give it a second
thought and if your not payin attention by now the 3rd or 4th one will stick real tight.

If you hear it screeching on your first depriming, that means only one thing. Your flash hole is undersized.

Get a Harvey hand deprimer and your problems will go away...
Lapua and other manufacturers make large and small flash hole cases.
Look and see first...
Harvey de-primer is available with both size de-capping pins...
Easy change out with Allen key... I have spare pins {they are dedicated and machined from one piece of steel}
To date I have only ever had a problem with bending a pin and that was because I was using the "small" flash hole pin on some old large hole brass and the primers were really stuck... Changed to the "large" pin and no problem what so ever...
Even managed to straighten the bent pin by chucking it up and gently bending it with a crescent wrench and was able to see run out by just turning it by hand while chucked up.
Quick and easy as the case just goes over the pin, flip into body and squeeze handle... Presto!
Just sit with a tray and bowl or bucket in front of the TV and you can pop the primers out onto the tray and brass into the bowl or bucket... {:~)

The Lee decapping die works well on my Lapua 6BR brass. However, the Lyman decapping die will not work on Lapua 6BR.

I had to turn down the pin on My Lee Universal Decapping Die before it would work on Lapua BR brass. It definitely would not fit the flash holes as delivered.

Drill out the small flash hole to 0.071 before you do anything to your brass.
Will never have a problem again.
