85 grain Sierra BTHP, IMR 4350, 22" Tikka, about 3,000 f/s - great predator bullet, very accurate. Most of my shots are under 200 yards.

Have any of you guys found a bullet (6mm/.224) that would stay inside a "fox" somewhat consistently out to 300/400 yd at high velocity ?
I haven't, but haven't tried a lot of different bullets/loads.

Not much to the Hide, hair or body of a Fox. I used to trap a lot of them and it take much to kill them. After seeing them with out the hide, they are not very big. It would be hard to keep a bullet from exiting. Matt

I have shot a few fox with a 243 and I will never do it again. Mine were shot with 55 grain ballistic tips and 70 grain Sierras. They looked like spaghetti....

I have shot a few with my .300 Win. Mag. and the 175 Sierra Match. 30 cal hole in and out. Only gun to not blow them to pieces. I would try a Berger 105 VLD in your .243 and avoid shoulder bones to minimize expansion. Good luck.

Regards, Paul
