Found Some Primers

I was in my favorite hunting/fishing store today and came across two 1,000 count boxes of Federal Gold Medal Match small rifle primers. I could not believe my eyes at first and when I picked one up to inspect it a woman with two small children said 'excuse me' and reached around me grabbing the other box. She was gone in an instant but I had my hands on the other box and nobody was getting it.
When I got to the checkout I realized I needed to go to my car to get my checkbook and trusted the checkout guy to hold them for 45 seconds. When I got back inside he was playing tug-of-war with another customer over my box of primers. Anyway, I ended up with them and now I can go shooting again. There seems to be almost a frenzy mentality when it comes to components. I hope it is over soon!

Panic buying in the U.S. affected shipment of reloading components into Canada. But the primer situation is easing north of the border. A Toronto retailer just got a big shipment of CCI primers. I picked up a brick of CCI 450s without being karate chopped at the checkout counter. I also got a brick of Federal Large Rifle at another supplier and didn`t need a flying wedge to get out the door. The suppliers are saying that they expect some form of normalcy late next Winter.

of the prices that are being asked for them?

Wow! This is the magnum ones? I must have successfully ordered them the day before they ran out. I only ordered 2k as I've never used them before and still have some Fed 205ms and even some WSR I believe.

Was talking today to a Toronto area wholesaler of reloading supplies. His big concern is that once consumer panic has slowed down and people have regained their senses, the large backorders of primers, bullets and powder will start to flood into his warehouse and he will have the reverse situation of today - too much inventory. He figures late next Winter. We can only hope.

1000yard, that may well indeed be what happens. I work at Federal Cartidge, and have been trying to buy primers for a couple months. As of yesterday on all primers we were backordered untill projected 2011.

We will receive another shipment of Wolf primers around August 21. Don't hold me to that.

We received about 20 million on the last shipment and expect to receive about the same amount on this shipment. We ordered most of these in January but have had some on order since October 08. The last shipment was pretty well absorbed with backorders. Currently we have around 6 million primers to fill in backorders for Wolf so we should have some left over if you don't already have an order in. You might want to make sure you get in line.

Like all the rest I have had a near impossible time getting primers. We are having a gun show this weekend, managed to pick up 5 thousand CCI BR-2's there, plus some powder. Plenty more were on the table, that's just all I could afford. Still can't find small pistol primers anywhere though.

keep your eyes open guys.... I randomly stopped at a sporting store the other day and picked some LR, SR, and SP primers. They had LP's as well, but I don't reload for anything that needs them.,All CCI brand)

They would only sell 400 of each type of primer, so I got 400 of each minus the large pistol's. They had a good amount of primers on the shelves. Powder selection was solid too!
