Forward assist use for accuracy

Was wondering... is it anyone's habit to single feed, ride the BCG home, and then go into full battery by using the forward assist?

Context for the question: I've been single feeding my ARs (Wylde and Grendel) to avoid mag or feed ramp issues, but have found that sometimes the bullet will scoot out of the case by as much as 0.014" (CBTO). Ascertained by dropping the bolt on the rounds and ejecting them without firing.
Grendel:
JP barrel/bolt,
Redding body (.003" CBTS bump) Lee collet (gives 0.003" "tension") Wilson seat
Lapua brass, 123 gn Hornady ELDMs or SSTs. running the recommended .003 neck "tension"
Keeping COAL around the 2.260" mark for mag feeding for these pills.

I will try increasing neck tension, but ITMT I'm curious if anyone has used the above regimen to avoid CBTS or CBTO changes caused by the AR's bolt slamming home... and most importantly, is it effective for you?

I did read the US Army rifle team article here on the site...

I shoot single shot with a Bob Sled in both 223 and 6 ARC. I always drop the bolt. Thousands of rounds with never a problem. Use CCI 41 or CCI 450 magnum primers with hard cups, thats what they are made for. Sufficient neck tension to hold the bullet.

When I load for gas gun I use 0.004”-0.006” neck tension, and when I single load I will push the case about 90% into the chamber with my pinky then drop the BCG. Never had an issue with bullets coming unseated or longer.

Are you sure you aren’t jammed into rifling and pulling the bullet when you extract live round ?

Ok, off work now. first an apology, maybe I should not post in the competition forum, I'm not a pro or shooting in a club, etc. If there's a more correct forum to post in just let me know?

Anyway, I shoot both bolt and gas guns, and for both it's all about accuracy. I've been single feeding the Grendel for many years and it is exceptionally accurate single feeding. However, if I can I'd prefer to just move to feeding from the mag. But I see my accuracy diminishes by doing that. No bullet scratches, no rifling marks, but an obvious though random change in CBTO. I think its fair to at least to surmise that the CBTO change round to round contributes to the accuracy decrease... especially considering how much time it took to find the right jump with the ELDMs and the SSTs.

I realize I'll have to work up new load recipes if I chang neck tension to avoid the scoot. Just wondering if anyone else has notice that condition bringing the bolt home from off the catch. FWIW, so far the ride/assist routine works has been working for me. sample set is small though...

Thanks for that. looks like neck tension change is the "must"
