Fort Benning Day 2

Today we found out its better to shoot the early rotation. John didn't shoot as good today with 1033 but his overall average was a 1044 which is better than his goal so happy with his progress.

Standing at the end of a hot long day still seems to be his nemesis. He said he needed to work on better fitness and longer training to simulate 3x40s. So great experience with some positive feedback. The best thing we didn't talk scores, we talked what he did well, poor, and how he thought he could work. Such a big emotional jump!

Also spoke with 3 colleges. He is leaning Ohio State because of aviation but he has 1 more year of HS so everything is fluid. SB CAMP, 3 pos national, and then NRA SB so lots of time for more growth.

Thanks Paula

Getting good grades and getting accepted into a good school is the most important thing a young man can accomplish,Shooting good scores is a great hobby unless there is a scholarship available

I said it was one of several he was looking at. It's killing me as well, I grew up in Kentucky. He has been on the pilot program since I had a job in Alaska and he flew along. Captain let him hold the yoke and press the beeper, he came running back yelling "I'm going to be a pilot". Now 11 years later he is studying for his ground school test. He sort of has a plan, I'm just along for the ride.

Ohio State is one of the finest Universities in the nation , and if John is still leaning toward aviation , it is a excellent choice . O.S.U. turns out some of the finest Lawyers , Judges , Doctors , Astronauts and those at the top of their fields . He could do a whole lot worse picking a school . GO BUCKS !

WVU has one of the most storied rifle shooting programs of all of the schools; churning out several former and current Olympians - but OSU is no slouch either. Nor is UK, AF Academy, or U Alaska Fairbanks. TCU, and Murray State are rumored to have good rifle programs.
