Forster's Ultra Seater Die

It's better than the Redding for VLDs - I've owned both and the Forster has several advantages.

ronemus,

What are the advantages of the Forster over the Redding? I have the Redding for 6BR and am happy with it, but I'm always looking to improve my reloading techniques and equipment whenever possible.

I have been told that the Forster has less deviation between ogive to case, and both have fair to good run out! I want to know if the Forster accommodates the VLD's as far as the seater pushing against the ogive instead of the conventional type along with not leaving marks?

The seating stem has a better taper (contact closer to ogive) and the metallurgy is better (it doesn't bell and gall the sleeve). The micrometer thimble is larger, which makes the scale easier to read. The fit of the sleeve to the case is closer, leaving less room for misalignment. It's less expensive. I liked it well enough that I paid the extra to have a custom sleeve cut for a caliber they didn't offer at the time.

Thanks, What I needed to know!

I just purchased a new seating stem that Forster fitted to my VLD bullets because the original stem from my Micrometer 6br die was ringing the bullets. I sent them 3 bullets to see if their newer stem would work & they ended up having to fit the stem to my bullets.
