Forster outside neck trimmer issue

Have used Forster HOT100 for years on 223 and 257 without an issue. Just bought new pilots for 243 and 308 and cannot even force the brass onto the pilot.

I doubt that Forster has oversized pilots in two different calibers.

Standard dies (no bushings). Can't even fit new, unsized brass.

Are the expander balls too small?

What I ended up doing because of the different neck thickness was to sand the pilots in a drill with some sandpaper till they just fit. With all the cal. I reload, I just started making my own pilots.
Tarey

Well I took a stab at it from another angle. Used the Lee Collet die and then was able to get the pilot started. Found out that there was a very slight burr on the leading edge of the pilot. A little emery cloth and now they fit like they should.

I can trim Lapua with NO problems, BHA match brass, no problem.

Try Federal, NO way, I am sure some of the suggestions above will help, but I only use Lapua now and don't have a problem.

Cool discovery. The necks on these two batches of Winchester brass were nearly perfect. I'm usually not so lucky.
