Forster neck reamer

Creedmore had free shipping so I thought I'd try this in my classic Forster trimmer. I tried it on old brass that hadn't been used in years. These were unsized Lapua 6BR cases that had donuts verified by a bullet stopping when it hit the donut. These cases were previously neck turned to .012" thickness. I noticed quite a bit of resistance when entering the case but then it smoothed out until it hit the donut. Continual turning took care of the donut easily.

afterwards I checked the neck wall thickness and it stayed at .012" and bullets easily passed where the donut had been.

I'm going to be trying some cases done this way in a different barrel than they were originally used in.

Curious also. Did you size the case neck prior to reaming or as fired.

to answer both questions; Forster specs the diameter of the reamer for a .243 bullet as .239". I tried to measure it but it was difficult due to the cutting flutes. Best I could come up with with my mic was a few 10 thou over .240.

necks must be reamed before sizing.

I have a couple hundred Lapua 6br cases myself and a Redding bushing die. This looks like a great way to get rid of the donuts, plus I picked up a Wilson trimmer.
