Forster neck honing question

I just talked to a nice lady at Forster, and I'm going to send them a new .223 Rem FL sizing die to have the neck honed. My loaded rounds (Lapua brass) measure 0.250" and I'd like my sized brass to measure 0.2485". What diameter should I specify to Forster to achieve this? I guess another way to ask the question is: How much springback can I expect from the brass? For what it's worth I don't [currently] anneal my brass.

Typically about .001 but I would call Fosters next week (after the shot show) and ask for Bob he will be able to answer your questions. If Bob's not available leave your number he is very good about returning calls and very willing to help.

I have a Forster FLS die with neck honed to 0.3345, loaded rounds are .3365.

This is for a .308 using Lapua brass, necks turned.

Resized cases measure 0.335 after spring back, (abt .0005 to .001) depending on the condition of the brass being resized (eg annealed, not annealed)

Very low run out with this die, a great option from Forster.

To produce your sized brass with necks at .2485 I'd say hone the FLS die neck to 0.2475, but I'd defer to Forster on that.

Are you turning your necks for a tight neck chamber and if so what is you neck dimension.

I sent a custom reamer to Forster and they made some 6BRX dies for me. Bob and the rest of the crew are a pleasure to work with and the results were top-notch. Redding and Forster make great products, but Forster is more willing to do custom stuff for customers.

If I were going to these lengths to make a case neck "just exactly so" I think I would have to invest some money in a GOOD annealing system to retain the brass' ductility...........
